The science behind the nose: correlating volatile organic compound characterization with canine biodetection of COVID-19
Getxent tubes were used to collect odor samples from COVID19+ and COVID19- patients, without direct contact with body fluids, to:
- Train dogs to detect COVID19+ patients
- Detect presence of COVID19 by:
- Dogs
- Analytical instrument (GC-MS)
This study confirmed that "ultra clean tubes like Getxent can reliably be used to safely and accurately train dogs in COVID19 detection".
In addition, thanks to Getxent tubes:
- "key VOC signature features were identified"
- "strong correlation between training aids with canine positive alerts and the VOC model generated by GC-MS"
