Odor signature evaluation: Perspectives encompassing explosives and pathogen detection
One of the most promising uses for Getxent tubes is the detection of harmful bacteria, especially in hospitals. According to this study, Getxent tubes demonstrated their ability to:
- Collect the odor of the bacteria Clostridium Difficile and its background (more molecules collected by Getxent tubes vs gauze that only collect odours partially)
- Keep and release the odor of C. Diff for at least 5 weeks (vs 1 week for the gauze)
- Release the odor molecules in a controlled manner (vs exponential-like for the gauze)
No conditioning & cleaning stage is necessary before use of Getxent tubes (vs required for gauze).
The Getxent tubes have proven to be much more effective and suitable for this purpose than gauze.
