A Preliminary Study of the Odorants of Interest in Native Crude Oils to Oil Detection Canines
Getxent tubes have been used as sorbents in a study on the detection of native crude oils by dogs. It has been shown that:
- Dogs can detect the odor of crude oil impregnated on Getxent tubes
- Getxent tubes can collect a fraction of the odor of crude oil (made in the lab) for testing with dogs
Getxent tubes are thus a powerful training aid for dogs trained to detect crude oil.
